Adventures in Scrap Fabric

This is a pillow that I made using some sample fabric scraps that a friend brought home from the architecture firm she interned at. All the samples were about one foot square with some awesome patterns and designs. The reverse side uses some scrap fabric from a project my grandmother made me, so it has some nice memories tied up in it.

High-Waisted Enough for you?

These are the product of an intro to sewing class that I took at this local craft studio/coop Spark Crafts. It was a 6 week class that met every Wednesday night for three hours. We completed 4 projects, including these pants, a skirt, and two bags. The class was great--I learned a lot, although most of the projects shall remain more useful for the practice they provided rather than the actual outcome. The pants came out way too huge, although that did mean I got to try my hands at tailoring. They are also a bit more, umm, generously-waisted than I usually prefer.

Adventures in Embroidery: An Owl is Born

Here's the result of my first stab at embroidery. I based this owl off a design from a 1970's bulletin board that has been floating around my family's house for years. I embroidered him onto a piece of scrap fabric, and liked it enough that I sewed it onto a tank top using a really tight zig-zag stitch.

Cabled Hats--Hooray!

Hello all!

I decided that I would like to have a place to showcase different crafty endeavors that I'm working on. I've been wishing that I would memorialize projects I've completed in a better way, as they tend to be given away or tucked into a drawer. I envision this mostly as a place to host pictures, but who knows! Perhaps I'll be inspired to write little gems now and again that you will each wait for eagerly. And maybe I'll meet some other nerdy craftsters along the way, or end up having my ideas ripped off in the next edition of Martha Stewart's Living magazine. The possibilities are endless!
